Liberated From The Hill book

About the book

“I must preface everything you are about to read with the indisputable fact that I am proud of the place where I was raised.”

Ruthenna always longed for life beyond the boundaries of her neighborhood. Though obstacles plagued her quest, by age 16, she saw a way off The Hill. Awards were piling up. College applications were coming.

Then, suddenly, Ruthenna’s mother was in a car accident. Her car flipped three times and she was thrown from the hatchback. Ruthenna’s mother survived but ‘Mama’ was gone. With her brother in jail, Ruthenna became the primary caregiver for her grandfather with cancer and a mother who barely knew her name. The path off The Hill was not so clear anymore. She was ready to settle for survival until a glimmer of hope illuminated a new track.
